Go Paperless: Try Our New Digital Forms for Fast, Touchless Patient Intake

Success in modern dentistry relies on staying ahead of the curve. If your DSO is held back by an outdated, on-premises PMS and multiple third-party vendors, you risk being left behind.

If you're dealing with any of the following issues, it's time to consider moving to the cloud.

  1.  Are your daily operations and patient care workflows are constrained by outdated, “clunky” features?

A traditional, on-premises PMS lacks the agility, flexibility, and overall capacity to adapt to fast-paced technology advancements and related industry trends.

"You’re dealing with all of these practices, and if they’re not following those consistent workflows across the board, you have a myriad of different results through the reporting. It creates challenges for all of the corporate office functions that are trying standardize,” said Aaron Reymann-Row, Director of IT, 42 North Dental. “How do we do our payroll? How are we collecting our AR? How are we communicating? How are we doing all these things consistently?”

2. Are you currently investing large amounts of time and money to protect your on-prem servers and data?

“It’s no longer a matter of ‘if the industry is attacked again,’ but when will it happen, who it will affect, and how painful will the fallout be,” said Alan Rencher, CTO, Henry Schein One.

Ensuring your PMS remains secure can be daunting, especially as your organization grows in size and complexity. Consider the steps you need to take to protect on-prem servers (and, in some cases, cloud-based software) against everything from a cyber-attack to a broken A/C unit.

3. Are you unable to scale your practice and meet your growth goals?
You expect your PMS to be able to scale with your organization’s growth, technology adoption, and workflow demands, but a traditional PMS is often unable to scale to accommodate your growth and innovation.

Beyond that, bringing your traditional system up-to-speed can be costly, time-consuming, and involve substantial hardware and software upgrades and IT resources. And any cost and resource diversion could negatively impact your capacity to care for patients.

4. Are you making business decisions without data to back them up?

Organizational success depends on informed decision-making, and that requires real- time reporting and analytics.

An on-prem PMS can be limited in the data insights it provides. For example, tapping into your Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) can be a cumbersome process, especially when generating related reports, and lead to inconsistencies across your organization.

“Without that consistency, you have no forecast. You don’t know if it’s going to be raining tomorrow. You’ve got to have some consistency to be able to start forecasting,” said Reymann-Row. “How do you drive improvement? How do you benchmark if you can’t get that level of consistency across the platform?

5. Are you unable to access your data outside of the office?

Connectivity is necessary in today's digital environment. An on-site PMS keeps your team tethered to their workstations. Lack of mobility can hinder productivity and limit your team's ability to adapt when a flexible response or collaborative moment is needed.

6. Are you relying on too many third-party vendors to get through the day?

Multiple systems means multiple bills, points of contact, upgrades, logins, and workflows. The reality is that moving to an all-in-one platform can increase production, improve staff efficiency and satisfaction, and, most importantly, improve patient care.
