What is an API Exchange?
  1. API stands for Application Programming Interface – it provides a secure way for 3d party software vendors to ask the Dentrix database for information (datapoints) they want to use in their software application and send data back to Dentrix or Dentrix Ascend.
How do I get started with an approved vendor?
  1. Once you’ve visited our Approved Vendor web page and confirmed your chosen software is on this list, contact that vendor to get started.
  2. If you do not see your preferred vendor on our list, please contact them and have them contact our team!
How does Henry Schein One ensure my practice security with third-party software vendors? What does this mean?
  1. By ensuring all our third-party vendors are SOC2 Type II and OAuth 2.0 certified through the above process, we can ensure your practice and patient data is securely transferred from Dentrix or Dentrix Ascend to their software and back.
What are the risks of using an unauthorized third-party software vendor?
  1. While we can’t vouch for the security of data once it is held by a third party, we take seriously our responsibility to protect the way data flows to those third parties.  APIs are the only way to ensure data stays secure when it flows from Dentrix to a third party, and back again.
